ViSAR
Victim Support through Alignment of Remedies
ViSAR is an EU-funded project focused on strengthening victims’ rights, access to justice and cross-border protection in cases of domestic violence and other violent crimes across Europe.
By combining legal expertise, multidisciplinary training, restorative justice approaches and AI-supported digital tools, ViSAR supports justice professionals, victim support actors and institutions in the effective application of European and international standards concerning victims’ protection.
The project promotes cooperation, mutual learning and practical implementation strategies aimed at improving victim support systems, professional capacities and access to justice across different European contexts.

Key areas addressed by the project
The ViSAR project focuses on key thematic areas related to victims’ rights, domestic violence, restorative justice and the practical implementation of European legal standards.
Domestic Violence and Cross-border Protection
Addressing challenges related to domestic violence, transnational victim protection, European Protection Orders and continuity of protection across Member States.
Restorative Justice and Multidisciplinary Approaches
Promoting victim-centred and trauma-informed approaches through restorative justice practices, interdisciplinary cooperation and operational exchange among professionals.
Professional Training and Mutual Learning
Supporting the professional development of judicial practitioners, law enforcement officers, lawyers, social workers, restorative justice professionals and victim support actors through specialised training modules and Mutual Exchange Learning Events (MELEs).
AI-supported Tools and Digital Innovation
Developing innovative digital resources, AI-supported tools and interactive learning environments aimed at supporting professionals, institutions and victim support systems.
International Cooperation and Institutional Networking
Strengthening cooperation among judicial authorities, public institutions, civil society organisations and research centres across Europe through transnational exchange and aligned operational practices.
Impact
Closing the gap between legal standards and daily practice
ViSAR aims to strengthen the effective and coherent protection of victims’ rights across Europe, with particular attention to domestic violence and cross-border protection mechanisms. Through multidisciplinary cooperation, specialised training activities, mutual learning experiences and AI-supported digital tools, the project promotes more accessible, coordinated and victim-centred approaches within judicial and institutional systems.
By connecting legal expertise, operational practices and innovative technologies, ViSAR contributes to reducing the gap between European legal standards and their practical implementation, while supporting stronger cooperation among professionals, institutions and victim support services across different national contexts.
